4 Cessna Memorial Day Pig Roast Boogie!
The Sixth Annual Memorial Day Weekend festivities proved to some of the best
ever. (photos yet to come) Sunday's festivities featured:
-
Doug Birtell's AWESOME Pig Roast - the most juicy, tender yet, plus Rick
Gardner featured his biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
-
Skydive Kansas' two Cessna 182's, including N100SD's new wing extensions
-
Kansas State University Parachute Club's wide body Cessna 182, as usual; we
thank them AGAIN!
-
NEW! Skydive Kansas City from Butler, MO, added their Cessna! We thank
them and hope they'll come back!
-
A flyover by a KC-135 refueler at about 1,000 feet! (Talk about LOUD!
You could feel it in your chest!)
-
The pilots did a FANTASTIC job being safe and still being CLOSE on jumprun!
Even the spots were great!
Ironically, we remarked last year, "In order to get a 12 way, we'll
need four planes." And IT HAPPENED! The 16 way attempt ended with
12 in. There were also several successful and semi-successful 12 and 8
way dives, including one 2 point 8-way (Congrats to Steve for his Eagle).
On the down side, we had a low turn incident in which a jumper broke his femur,
and also a canopy collision that resulted in both jumpers cutting away.
Despite the negatives, the weekend broke the record for the most number of
jumps for that weekend as well as the most number of jumps in one day: 156
jumps.
A special thanks goes to DZ Manifester Patty McGinnis who has for the last
2 years been the backbone for organizing and making things run smoothly.
Her ideas and creativity and tireless efforts go largely unnoticed. WE
LOVE YOU PATTY!
