2005: the year in review
Last year proved to be an ever changing year, and one of the best in our history! We gave a record number of people their first jump experience: almost 400 tandems! And an unprecedented number of those returned to pursue their license. We upgraded all our skydiving gear: a brand new tandem rig with a new canopy design SET 360 - all the new mods for the other tandem rig - two BRAND NEW freefall containers complete with the last technology for teaching BOC through the IAF method - and all new glow in the dark wrist altimeters - new radio system for students - new video camera available for IAF students, offering an instructor's close up view for help in finetuning freefall body position - offering DVDs for tandems! Probably the most significant addition, however, was a new overhauled engine for N100SD: this bird can maintain almost 1,000 feet a minute all the way to 10K! The cohesiveness of our staff was fantastic and our enthusiasm contagious to our first time jumpers. As we look ahead to 2006, the question is: can it get any better? Fortunately, the answer is likely to be YES! as we have plans for improving our hangar, hosting instructional rating courses, staffing two pilots some weekends, and opening on a weekday evening.

eyebrowsThis past weekend...
12/18
Despite cold temps, lower clouds, and snowy landing area, we managed 5 hop & pop loads Sunday!  Crowder built his first snowman ever (lame) and it was used as a target for landing accuracy... yep, you guessed it: no one touched 'em! Jeremy pulled ahead of Turk one jump in the Load Hog competition.

12/4 Beautiful sunny day with 10mph winds... high temp of 28, but lots of jumping going on anyway!  After the battery finally got warm enough!  Congrats to Justin for his FIRST SOLO!  And Thanks Troy, Karen, Kelly & Buck for visiting!

11/19 Not much going on this weekend, bad weather, but James managed to get his second jump off... The only student to do anything today.  Hop & Pop city! To Julie's gang!  We'll have better weather for you on the 18th, but can't top the entertainment!

11/13 Good weather on Sunday, tho some wind, but good for Hank, Paul & Carroll to make their skydives! Congrats!  And James making his first jump, Justin doing more towards his license.  Pilot Kyle brought his friend Kyle for a jump: sunset loads are beautiful!

11/5 - 6 A line of clouds solid overcast at 3K slowly worked its way towards the DZ Saturday.  We could see this monster that would thwart jump ops all day long, only a couple miles south, slowly slowly creep towards us, until finally, we had to give up.  Occasionally, the clouds turned a full altitude load into a hop & pop load, but at least Justin and Ro made their jumps.  Matt & Kally, we'll get it done!  Corey & Jared keep moving closer to their licenses.  Sunday was gorgeous with perfect winds, pleasant temps and great fun jumping!  Happy Belated Birthday to Jeramie, who for the third year in a row brought friends out to skydive with him near his birthday!  Dave, Whitney, Harry, Miles & Phil!  Jay, it was great to see you again, and Jim congrats on your first jump... you don't say to a skydiver, "I wanna jump TOMORROW!" unless you mean it!  Thanks to Laci for driving the golf cart--she drives it in reverse "Because it goes faster!"

milestones

Congrats on Sunday, November 20 to Jeremy Struemph for 100 jumps!
Congrats on Sunday, August 28 to Larry Pinkston for 100 jumps!
Congrats on Sunday, July 31 to Jeremy Struemph for earning his A license! WOO HOO!
Congrats on Sunday, July 10 to Andrew Buckland, JUMP NUMBER 100!
Congrats on Sunday, June 5 to Dawn Blood, JUMP NUMBER 500!
Congrats on Sunday, April 17 to Rick Gardner who FINALLY made jump number 500!  He got pied for the FIRST TIME while thinking he was pie-ing Jason Witt who made jump number 100 on the same skydive!

10/29 - 30 Windy on Saturday, so we adjourned to West's 13th Birthday Party!  Sunday started out windy and cloudy again, but very soon the winds slowly died and we had the perfect Fall weather that you dream about in January when it's snowy and bleak, and in July when it's hot, windy with high density altitude!  No, Bill, Charlie wasn't kidding, he was saying "Na Nanny Boo Boo!"  Paul brought his son Eric out with him to make their first jumps.  Then Ryan came back for his second jump, but brought along brother Kenny in celebration of his 18th birthday! The Halloween Costume Contest took place both days, but on Sunday, some contestants jumped in costume.  Below are the contestants for the BEST COSTUME: please vote in our poll at left for your favorite, and we'll give them a free jump!

10/22 Weather was as bad as it gets!  Okay, maybe not, don't jinx myself.  Saturday, Tim made jumps number 2 AND 3, ready for solo jumps soon!  Then "T" and sister Cynthia made their first jumps, scheduled their second ones!  Ro & Justin, we'll catch you next week!  Low clouds and wind moved in, and eventually rain. Sunday, 1300 foot ceiling was finally moved out by 27 mph winds, so no jumping :(

10/15 - 16
Weather was as good as it gets!  Beautiful fall temps and great sky... Dale finally got his first jump done after three attempts and a plane ride!  Witt's little sister Kylee made her first jump! And Congrats Breann & Preston on their first jumps. Amy made her happy birthday jump, thanks to parents and siblings.  Then Craig and his friend Chris made more jumps, looking for a license now!?  Sunday was equally beautiful, as Melissa crossed off one item from the "things to do before I'm 30" list!  And Aron, April, Kala & Afton made first jumps, Happy Birthday Kala!  Jennifer came out for her second jump and brought friend Adam to enjoy one with her!  Good also to see some old friends! (Well, not that you're OLD necessarily...)

Halloween costume?  Nope not yet... just Rick's SICK sense of humor, letting us all know he's just fine, perfectly himself again!

Rick

10/8 - 9 We could not have asked for better weather for the 10th Birthday Open House Celebration!  And many cool jumps: Congratulations to Bobbie & Matt!  The first tandems on Saturday were these two lovebirds... While Bobbie was on her tandem, Matt painted "BOBBIE MARRY ME?" in the grass!  At 4,000 feet under canopy, tandem instructor Bill Hubbell helped Bobbie read the message!  After they landed, Matt got on his knees with the ring and officially proposed!  She said yes, of course! Nichole from the Osage County Herald came out to take photos of the event and watched jumpers get out at 10K!  (See the front page article this week!) Amy made her jump that we donated to Topeka Boys & Girls Club... and Jackie & Brian made their tandems together! Congrats our pilot Kyle on jump number 2 and his girlfriend Lacey on jump number 1!  "Yes, I'm still here!"  Also making first jumps Saturday were Tim, Liz, and James, beautiful sun on those jumps!  Juan Carlos Santa Maria Chavez the second (the bear) made a jump, but he was a floater and his Cypres didn't fire; he's still MIA!  Everyone enjoyed chili, cheese dip, hot dogs all day.  Thank you to so many of the cars passing by honking in celebration for us, plus the surprise smoke pass from the unknown low wing!

Sunday the celebration continued, mostly with leftover hot dogs for lunch and leftover chili smell in the plane... Ann, Eric & Bernice got in on the action Sunday, as did Jon for his birthday!  Then the Bergeson family made their first jumps.  Congratulations Jerod on his first solo jump! Awesome!

We're ready for 10 more years! Thank you Osage City and skydivers from all over!

10/1 - 2 If it's not clouds, it's wind.  Saturday was low clouds, only 900 feet or so tho.  Sunday was winds... only 35+ mph tho.

9/24 - 25 Skydive Kansas was proud to be a part of the first annual All Kansas Cessna Boogie to be held at Air Capital Dropzone starting at noon on Friday, September 23rd, but with the bulk of the boogie on Saturday, September 24th. We flew both Cessnas to Cook Field for the event.  It was a spectacular sucess!
Get more information here: www.kansasskydivingboogie.com
Sunday proved super busy as some on the KU Crew team made first and second tandems! Congratulations Bill, Joel, Brad, Meg, Peter, Bria, Cory, Bret, Anna & Frank!

9/17 - 18 Weather getting us again!  But Happy Birthday Celeste and congrats to Ashley, John and Kyle on their first jumps! Brian & Jackie, we'll get more than a plane ride next time... Moving on to solo jumps in phase two is Jared, completing his third tandem.  And a sad goodbye to Adam leaving for Utah... come back soon!  Saturday clouds shut us down for part of the day, then Sunday, winds over 32 mph meant no jumping.

9/10 - 11
So pretty windy weather this weekend... Poor Dale who rode the plane to 3K but didn't get to jump out!  Witt, Charlie, Jeremy: cross country from Melvern lake 7 miles away!  Sunday was a little better in the morning, enough time for Jared and Corey to do their second tandems, then Corey for his third with friend Sarah on her first!  Then 30 mph winds shut down ops.

9/3 - 4
Happy Labor Day weekend!  On Saturday we welcomed from EXTREME South Western Kansas schoolteacher Karen, who made her first jump with us!  Beautiful job and hope you come back sometime! Grant's friends Jake, Jennifer & Becky made their first jumps, as did Paul later in the afternoon.  Congratulations to Jeff for his release dive!  Good work!  On Sunday, we had Brandon's group: Ron, Trenton & Ashton.  Good times there!  And Daniel and Joseph, thank you for jumping with us, but more importantly, thank you for serving our country!  Also from the military Aron and Christopher!  See you again THIS WEEKEND! And for the record, Jen paid up on her bet Sunday...  Plus some advice from Kermit: don't eat at Blind Tiger.

8/27 - 28
Great weather for our first jumpers, Caleb & Aubrey.  Happy Birthday Aubrey!  (She found out she was jumping as they pulled into the parking lot!) Also Happy Birthday to Traci! Had lots to talk about at that shower, huh? And congrats Billie on your first jump, great job! Also jumping for the first time was Tiffany & John and Joe & Megan!  Hope you had as much fun as we did! Sunday was a carbon copy of the weather, hot & no wind, but less water in the landing area... Larry Pinkston made his 100th jump (non-traditional tho), and Adam G. completed phase two and is on to coached dives!  Great job and lots of concentration Adam! Jared, Allison, and Corey had fantastic first jumps, thanks for coming out!  And Ami, Happy belated Birthday on your jump!  Out for more, Lisa made her second jump... you're ahead of Kermit now!  We were also entertained by some CRW with Charlie and Jeremy (first downplane), and by a four way smoke jump: Jeremy, Turk, Rick & Andrew.  We had to say a temporary goodbye to Andrew Buckland, as he leaves us for Oregon and college. :(  "Andrew, PACK FASTER!"

andrew

PINKJeremy (at right) prepares for yet another jump in his quest for the Load Hog Trophy... Here he dons his lucky PINK altimeter (he claims it's maroon) and Freefly Pimp dress complete with matching pink flowers.  Will he reach his lofty goal?  Will he surpass the jump records to win the Hog?  Only time and the checkbook will tell... Meanwhile (below) Jeremy blames Tandem Instructor Bill Hubbell for his farts. RUTHLESS!

Who Farted

Turk landing8/20 - 21 Patience paid off finally for first jumpers Andrew, Brian, Jonathan and Paul who showed up at 7:30am, waiting for the good weather.  After finally starting at 3pm, we managed to get their first jumps off, as well as father and son Chris & Jacob, plus Chris, then the "family reunion" group from Osage City: Trish, Marla, Lisa and Kathy!  What fun!  And a special congrats to Chris Crowder for advancing to the coach phase! (Sending you to the wolves...)  Sunday proved much more cooperative weather, as we able to jump with Ken.  Then Mike and son Luke and their enterage: Terry, Tanner, Amber, plus Scott and Josh.  Soon, Luke goes up again for his third tandem and talks Lacey into joining!  Congrats to Adam who got his Release dive in, getting rid of those training wheels!  Then Kermit shows up just goofing off flying, and Kyle talks him into flying the last load so our pilot Kyle can make his FIRST JUMP! WOO HOO! (Laci, I told him you'd be mad!)

8/13 - 14 Thunderstorms and clouds plagued the weekend, so the 8 ways planned ended up being jumps from variable altitudes on Sunday! Chris, we're gonna miss you!

8/6 - 7 Congrats first jumpers on Saturday, Jeff, Scott, Ryann, Paul, and Megan.  Also Adam & Sheik making tandems and working towards their license.  Sunday, Adam did his last tandem and made his first solo!  Yeah!  Happy 18th birthday jump to Tyler!  And Best Wishes on your marriage to Matthew & Seresa! Danny & Juan, glad you finally decided to jump with us... now where are those El Mezcal gift certificates?

7/30 - 31
This was the weekend for BIRTHDAYS! Happy Birthday to first time jumpers Jerry, Alyssa, and Mitch (4th time's a charm!) Plus Erin, Happy Birthday on your second jump! Glad to see Aunt Pam again from West Virginia! David & Art, what a good time! Sisters Silvy & Abbey, bring Dad out to jump instead of just watch next time!? Lots of fun! Then off to Manhattan for the Shrine Bowl demonstration jump! Thanks to jumpers Jesse Magana, Jen Sharp, Rick Gardner, & Rance Sackrider, plus pilot Brent Ingham and ground crew Andrew Buckland, Turk Chapman, Bill Hubbell, Dena Gardner & Larraine Sackrider.

The jumpers congregate on the Wildcat Head at KSU Stadium, as Jesse shows off the game ball.
Sunday proved busy as well, as Townsend convinced another buddy Ulises to join in the fun. Congrats also to Chris for tandem 2 AND 3! DeeDee and Lyle made their first jumps, as friend Sue flew them in for the event! Jeremy's dad also celebrated his 60th birthday with a tandem, after he watched his son bail out solo first! And it was great to see Dani's group again for their second tandems: Heidi & Scott, plus first time for Ellen. And another HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Beth, after waiting two years since cousin Cameron made his first, finally to celebrate your first with his second jump!

7/23 -24
Welcome back Candy, who's mom Sharon was featured in the Topeka Capital Journal a couple years ago, "jumpin' Grandma!" Candy didn't make a jump again this time, but she brought out friends Cindy, Sharon, and Steve. Congrats also to first timers Katie, Craig, Greg, and Chris. Ingrid and Kyle, thanks for the fun jumps and tell your little brother to come back in 3 years! Then there's Sara, making her third tandem, bringing mom Gail along! Too much fun!
Sunday started out hot again, as Brandy and Chris celebrated Brandy's birthday. Congrats also to John, Kim, and Hannah -- now you can see what your brother Jason was talking about!? Plus Paul, Happy 30th! Great fun with Michael's group again: Joe, Bob (Happy Bday), Kit, Bret, and Preston. We loved your washers game! And sorry you know Townsend, but thanks for humoring him and coming out to experience it for yourself: Michael, Chris and Randy!

Kermit7/16 - 17 News from the cockpit, Skydive Kansas staff pilot Kermit Crane finally leapt from the airplane Saturday!  It was a surprise gift from the staff, as he was originally only coming to watch his friend Lisa make her jump. Lisa urged him, "Well, I want you to come with me." And had to clarify, "To 10,00 feet!" After the jump, when asked what did he like best, Kermit in his usual low key style of humor replied, "The airplane ride." Congratulations you two!

Others making their first jumps were father and son Scott and Rob plus Brett as well.  Heather, good to see you back!  Aaron thanks for bringing her out with you!  Also Brandon, Ben and Sean congratulations! Sunday proved hot but fun, as Ben, Joe made first jump tandems... Thanks Casey for bringing out friends again for your 3rd jump, Jessica, Randy, Travis, Jeff... plus brothers Daniel & David (Deb your birthday is when?).

7/8 - 7/10 Exciting and eventful weekend!  Friday began with a Coach Certification Course, as nine licensed jumpers got down to business, studying and practicing their teaching skills.  All nine candidates completed the course by Sunday, so congrats to Mike, Jenny, Chris & Larry from ACDZ, plus Emma & Jason from KSUPC, and Skydive Kansas' own Chris Townsend, Jason Witt, and Andrew Buckland: NEW COACHES!  Not only did he complete the course on Sunday, but Andrew Buckland also managed to met the jump number requirement, number 100 on that day!  Witnesses remarked they had never seen someone put shorts on so quickly during canopy deployment....

Saturday, Andrew's cousin and friend Ian and Ginger got to come out and make their first tandem skydives.  Ian, hope you enjoyed the freefall on this one!  Kristin and Chelsea also enjoyed tandem skydives. (Maybe Chelsea, can you relate to your brother's skydiving stories now!?) Congrats also to Ron who said he wished he would have started 20 years ago!  Thank you to Jeremy Struemph who cooked some AWESOME burgers! Sunday proved even more exciting, as Jason completed his third tandem, passing on to phase two, the solo jumps!  But nothing could compare to Jerod and Kristin's experience... on the way up to altitude, in the plane together, Jerod proposed to Kristin and handed her a ring!  She accepted and put the ring on... jumped with it!  This skydive was a present from her to Jerod, but he ended up giving the surprise part of it!  CONGRATULATIONS on "taking the plunge" literally!  Then later, Mike and a large part of his family made it out to skydive: Luke, Jenny, Jayme, Jessica!  What a blast!  You all need to come back and join us again!

7/1 - 7/4 Happy Birthday DANI!  After waiting for some morning fog to burn off, Dani and her friends Jeff, Heidi, Scott, & Harmonee enjoyed their first jumps.  Thanks to Brookside Retirement Community for watching your friends Vicki and Jessica do their jumps!  Saturday proved even better weather for Travis's first jump, Dick's second jump (not in the mud this time!) and for Tom & Meghan who sold plasma so they could jump!  Tom, what surprise did you have for her next? Sunday was so windy, even a 1.2 wingloading was backing up, so we opted to wait out the storm... too bad it didn't move through until 9pm that night!  Fourth of July was one to remember!  Thank you Nick and Michelle and Nick's Mom for making the drive!  Hope the "empty slot jump" made it worth the drive!

6/25 & 26 Saturday was beautiful weather and congrats to Jeremy for moving on to coached dives!  Also for their first jumps, Matt, Candace, Wesley & Ahmad!  And Patrick & Shawn... are you still afraid of heights?  Me, too! Happy Birthday Anya and for sharing in the fun, Jenny! By the way, Jenny, you helped us reach total jump number 21,000 on that tandem! On Sunday we had first timers Zach, Ryan, Brian, then father daughter team John & Mallory (hey sis, only 3 more years!), and congrats also to Kyle and David!  Glad your mom found out about us!  JD & Jose, thanks for coming out and seeing what it's about firsthand instead of listening to Townsend's stories!

steaks6/18 & 19 IAF student Jeremy knows how to butter up his instructors... he brought out some AWESOME steaks from his uncle's farm and even cooked them for us! Congratulations Jeremy on some equally awesome skydives!  Saturday was a busy day and several people experienced their first jump: Megan, Brian & Beth, Corey & Kate, Ted & Lindsay!  And congratulations to "friend of Bill" Jim Austin on a great tandem, plus Happy Bachelor Party to Joe, Joe & Brian!  Saturday night brought even more jumps, and "case o' beer" to licensed jumpers who got their first taste of jumping in the dark (having your eyes closed cuz you're scared doesn't count to your night jump requirement!): Jason Witt, Andrew Buckland, and Chris Townsend... Larry, you missed out!  Sunday was a Happy Father's day for first time jumpers Stephen who came out with his son, and John who came out with his dad!

6/9, 11 - 12 Thursday we did some test jumps on a canopy and managed four loads before clouds and more storms rolled in.  Saturday started off with even more rain... as Nathan says, "Good thing because that landing area was parched!"  But congratulations to Audrie & David who made their first jumps, and Happy 18th Birthday Evan! A special Happy Anniversary gift from Travis to his mom & dad Randy & Debbie making their first jump as well! Sunday also started off cloudy and stormy after another night of the bad weather, so even MORE water in the landing area, but that didn't stop Alex and Matt!  Congratulations to Matt Arbaiza & Sara Flaherty who made their last tandems and are ready for SOLO! Congrats Jeff on tandem number 2 as well! Happy Birthday Dan!  Glad we got your jump in plus Mike's before the storm.  Joe & Bob, we'll see you soon to finish up the birthday celebration!

mud

dawn6/4 - 5 Saturday with severe thunderstorms moving in on us, we managed only 2 loads, and only 2 people landing ON the DZ!  Pictured above is Andrew's rig, a testament to his choice of landing area and special "sliding on his back" technique, akin to the PLF. Among the two who landed on: Dawn making jump number 500, shown being pied for the event.  Congratulations Dick for first jump planned over a year ago!  Did you get your shoes cleaned off?  After even MORE rain Saturday night, Sunday proved to be better winds, but every landing was a "splash down!" Congratulations to first time jumpers Ryan, Mike, Clayton, Chris & Elizabeth, Ben (have fun with the Twin Otter!) Tricia, thanks for coming and jumping, Terry, GREAT to see you!  Your jump is in two weeks?  Tell everyone in Neodesha HI! Finally got your jump in JW (Happy Birthday), and Mr. Hat! Special farewell send off to Emiel, congratulations on your first jump! (My face is just fine!)

dawn

parrot chute5/28 - 30 Saturday proved decent weather for Brian's first jump, congratulations!  Tell Chelsea she missed out, and now you can swap stories with Kent!  YEAH, STEVE P!  Great job and hope it was worth the wait!  Welcome to skydiving, Travis & Janna!  Hope to see you again later this summer!  And Robert, Happy Birthday!  Next time, it's Melinda's turn.  Eric, hope you had as much fun as we did, sorry for the smell in the airplane!

5/21-5/22 Congratulations first time jumpers from Geoff's group: Geoff, Brenda, Steve, Wilbur, Sandie, Lori, Amber!  Pam and Steve, hope to see you again!

5/14-5/15 Beautiful weather Saturday despite a middle of the day wind hold.  Nick, it was good to have you come out so you could ride the plane down with us again! Congratulations to our tandem students: Kelly, Brittney, hope you had fun!  Ariadne you did an awesome job! And especially Amy, Happy 18th birthday!  (How many people actually pack the tandem for their first jump!?)  And Happy Birthday, too, to Jon! Rick & Laura, patience pays off!  We're glad you stuck it out and got to jump with us! Sunday?  Bad luck: the plane that worked great was due for 100 hour and the other plane had an electrical problem.  Time for lunch at El Mezcal instead! Now, the LOAD HOGS? You go Nathan and Witt, passing up Norris!

5/7-5/8 MORE WIND!  We didn't even get the planes pulled out of the hangar! But the staff meeting and breakfast on Saturday proved to be entertaining at least for the few who attended!

4/30-5/1 Another windy weekend, and COLD! But the early bird gets the worm, so those who showed up in the mornings were able to jump.  Happy Surprise Mack!  Sounds like your first jump was a ton of fun! Adrienne, good job on your jump, and we knew you'd be excited!  Rick and Laura, we'll order better weather next time. Congratulations Rick & Noah, hope you enjoyed it and will be back! On great job Matt on your second jump!  You're a natural!

4/24 Windy on Saturday; gusts from 6 mph to 29, so no jumping, but we managed to entertain ourselves opening and closing the new door about a zillion times for various reasons:  "I had to close it because of the wind."  "There was a glare on the TV!"  Sunday was beautiful and 12 people made tandems!  Jeremy, thanks for the T-shirts and congrats on jump number 2!  I didn't think your smile could be any bigger than the first jump but I was wrong!  Ian and Jamie from St. Joe finally made their first jump!  Worth the wait!  And Erik, good luck in the military, hope you and Matt had as much fun as we did!  Happy 18th Birthday Adam, who guessed only a couple days before that his gift from Mom & Dad & Brother was the intangible air at 120 mph! Mary & Lisa, you both need to convince your husbands to jump with you next time!  Congratulations to Brian on his first of hopefully many jumps! Your enthusiasm was fun to see! Dennis, congrats on jump number 2 and thanks for sharing the experience with April! And Betty, thanks for making your first jump with us!  Come see us again!  In other news, thanks for the chili, Rick, but remind me next time, let's only have chili on Sunday so it won't have time to process for the next day's plane rides!  A special thank you to Kermit who helped with the planes, ferry for maintenance, train another pilot, and on Sunday had a numb butt flying 14 loads with not many breaks!  THANK YOU!

4/19 Beautiful weather!  Happy Birthday surprise to Terry, from fellow jumper daughter Brandy!  And Jacob, thanks for coming back with more friends from Harrah's: Joan, Jennifer, Dustin, Tom! Jesse & Sam, you HAVE to come back and jump with us again... bring the velcro wall! Sunday, congrats to Arturo, Eduardo & Carlos from Bolivia who made their first jump and finally had good weather! And to Jeremy's group from the Crew team: Jeremy, Loral, Peter, Anna, Zak, that was fun!  Jason Witt made jump number 100 on the same dive with Rick, number 500 finally, only Witt had slightly less clothes on than the rest of us. Let's see, that's a case for 100th jump, first in the buff, first pie, and Rick, first pie!

4/4 Felt almost like summer!  Thanks Jak for flying 14 loads and sorry we wouldn't let you get out of the plane except to use the bathroom.  Beautiful weather despite the haze from burning fields.  Congratulations to first timers Darren & Melissa (Happy Birthday!) and to Isaac who had been waiting two years for his Christmas present! Witt brought out some friends, Karin & Russell, hope you had as much fun as we did! And congratulations to Heinzel and Kai-I who passed phase one in their training and are moving on to solo student status!  And Chris, excellent on your AFF jump, let's do some more.  Some upjumper faces we hadn't seen in a while, Nathan & Dawn, plus Little Joe and nice to meet Christine.

sergioSunday was excellent until winds picked up.  Congratulations to our group from Bolivia & Mexico!  We had so much fun with you all!  First timers Glorianna, Sergio, Doris and Andres!  What fun!  Carlos, Eduardo and Arturo, we'll get you up soon!

3/21 Awesome weekend!  Saturday's temperature inversion was crazy!  50 degrees at 5K but 40 on the ground!  Congratulations to Patrick and Julie who made their first jump and did awesome!  Sunday was cold, even ice verga towards the end of the day but who can complain?  (Okay, Rick and I both did!) Congratulations to Jenny & Ashley!  Jenny, you've changed alot since 6th grade band, fun to jump with you both! Tall Heinzel who grew since last time we saw him, good work on your second tandem!  Kai-I congratulations on another pull!  And Everett and Elaine, the pianists, hope you had as much fun as we did!

3/14 Friday night staff meeting was productive and fun, then Saturday's Safety Day breakfast at 8am was attended by many!  Thanks for showing up bright and early!  Seminar presenters did a great job focusing on important topics!  As is sometimes the case, those attending were the ones probably needing safety training the least, but we had a good time!  Only one jump on Saturday due to winds, but Sunday was AWESOME!  Okay, it was cold, but it was jumpable!  Congratulations to the first timers!  Josh and his mom Michelle, and Christina! Plus Brian's birthday jump finally happened!  Eric made his first jump and did great!  And Happy Birthday to Heather, you did GREAT!  "You looked like a starfish!"  GREAT JOB! Our planned Safety Day lunch was held instead on Sunday (since everyone left before lunch Saturday).

3/7 Weather was beautiful on Saturday, March 5th!  We had 7 students make tandems with us, some of them returning from last year!  Scott, Adrian, Sara, Kellie, John, Jeff and Josh... we had a TON of fun!  Hope you come back and jump with us again soon!  Also, welcome back Doug "Road Kill" Simpson, who made a jump after a couple years layoff.  Sunday, we weren't so lucky with ground winds up to 44 mph, but before winds were too high, Jason managed to make his second tandem, congratulations.  Brian, Happy Birthday and we'll try again next weekend! And everyone is welcome on the "Hannah Express!"

2/28 Weather finally cooperated with us on Saturday, February 26th!  We did 9 loads, and congratulations to Bryan and Lisa who did their first jumps celebrating Bryan's birthday!  Bryan was surprised by Lisa with this gift.  And congratulations to Sara, the true BIRTHDAY GIRL!  Her birthday was Saturday, the day her good friend Pia was to take her "to lunch".. only to make a side trip to a drop zone. Sara didn't know she was jumping until she arrived at the hangar!
